The USA Basketball team’s road to the Paris Olympics got off to a successful start with a victory over Canada. Anthony Davis led the way with 13 points, while Stephen Curry chipped in with 12 points as the United States defeated Canada 86-72 in their pre-Paris Games training camp. Jrue Holiday also contributed with 11 points and Anthony Davis added 10 points for the United States, who have four more exhibition games before heading to France.Canadian star RJ Barrett scored 12 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks each had solid performances. The game was attended by former President Barack Obama, along with numerous NBA coaches and legends in honor of USA Basketball’s 50th anniversary. The total attendance for the game was recorded at 20,757, setting a new record for any game at T-Mobile Arena. The United States got off to a slow start, trailing 11-1 midway through the first quarter after missing their first six shots. However, they turned things around and finished the half strong, shooting an impressive 64.3% from the field. They led 41-33 at halftime and extended their lead to 69-54 by the end of the fourth quarter. Jayson Tatum was notably absent from the start of USA Basketball camp in Las Vegas. It was evident that the American team, who had only been together for a week, were still working out some kinks as there were a few miscommunications on the court. Despite that, the team showed promise and will look to continue improving as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
