Former Minnesota Lynx player Val Whiting expressed confusion on X, formerly Twitter,
when she found out that Chicago Sky star rookie Angel Reese had blocked her on the social media platform. However, a WNBA fan was quick to dig up the receipts to justify the block.
Whiting made a post featuring a screenshot of the block and accompanied it with a question:
“Uh what’s going on? Why would Angel Reese block me? I’ve battled on this app for her.”
In response, a fan posted a screenshot of Whiting’s tweets from last month where she criticized the Chicago Sky rookie.
The fan questioned why Whiting was surprised after realizing that she was blocked.
“Why you so worried about being blocked by a player that you talked down about?”
Other fans joined the fray and criticized Whiting for her previous comments.
“Probably from the countless dumb clickbait sh*t u tweet lol,” @ldnHawk said.”You was hating. We saw it and they saw it. You got what you deserved,” @tonyymonyana said.”It was said that you said she wasn’t even wnba ready? so are you sure?” @HollywoodChenn said.
Another fan praised Reese for blocking Whiting on the platform.
“You battled on this app FOR her or AGAINST her? Be fr. She did a good job blocking you,” @Netta2147 said.”LMAO every time Angel blocks one of her stans the world gets a little better,” @c0mputersputin said.
Neither Reese nor the Chicago Sky have responded to Whiting’s request to know the reason for the block.
Val Whiting backs up Angel Reese against the stat-padding accusations
Angel Reese is having a monstrous rookie season where she is leading the league in rebounds. On the other hand, she has been criticized for her poor finishing skills. The Chicago Sky star is averaging 13.5 points, 12.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. However, some fans have accused the Sky rookie of stat-padding via rebounds
So when the same accusation showed up on social media after Sky’s recent 77-75 loss against the Las Vegas Aces, former Minnesota Lynx player Val Whiting defended the rookie.
“In one sequence, Angel Reese just repeatedly out worked 3 Aces players (two players 6’5) to get rebounds off of her own misses. Argue with a wall if you don’t think that takes talent and skill,” Whiting tweeted.
She credited Reese’s incredible work ethic and rebounding talent for her offensive takeover at the rim. Whiting was vocal when many questioned Reese and doubted her skills.
