Urgent: DK Metcalf hinted at leaving the Seahawks after a disappointing season by joking, “I’ll leave if I can hold a $100 million contract.”

If the Seattle Seahawks are out of the NFL playoff race leading up to the Nov. 5 trade deadline, rival teams should be calling GM John Schneider about a potential deal for superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf.

There are no indicators that DK Metcalf wants to leave the Seahawks. But the 26-year-old is only signed through 2025, and judging by the wide receiver market this summer, it’s safe to say Metcalf’s next contract will easily cost over $100 million.

Metcalf might even be hesitant to sign an extension with the Seahawks if they look nothing like a contender this year. With 2023 first-round pick Jaxon-Smith Njigba in place, the Hawks could decide that Metcalf is expendable and put him on the trade block.

If there’s one team that should be “all-in” on a DK Metcalf trade, it’s Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys. Remember, Jones said in January that his team would have an “all-in” approach to the offseason.

The Cowboys haven’t made any blockbuster trades or free agent signings this offseason. But what if Jones saved his best move for last and made a deal for a superstar wideout like DK Metcalf, who would form an explosive duo with CeeDee Lamb?

Like Lamb, Metcalf has made a compelling case as a top-five wide receiver in football. Dak Prescott had a career year in 2023 with Lamb as his only game-changing weapon, so imagine if Metcalf joined the party.

What Cowboys Should Offer Seahawks For DK Metcalf

Two years ago, the Las Vegas Raiders gave up 2022 first and second-round picks to the Green Bay Packers for Davante Adams. So 2025 first and second-round picks will likely be a starting point in negotiations for DK Metcalf, with Dallas potentially having to offer more.

Seattle may want another WR as part of the return, so perhaps first and second-round picks along with third-year receiver Jalen Tolbert could get it done. It would be a quality return for a retooling Seahawks team, while a Prescott-Lamb-Metcalf trio could help Dallas get over the hump and win the Super Bowl once and for all.

Although DK Metcalf has been a key player for the Seattle Seahawks, the team’s future is uncertain. As the trade deadline approaches, it may be wise for the Seahawks to consider potential deals for Metcalf if they are out of the playoff race. While Metcalf has not expressed any desire to leave the team, his contract situation could make him a valuable trade asset. With his next contract likely to be worth over $100 million, the Seahawks may need to make a tough decision if they are not contenders this year. One team that could benefit from acquiring DK Metcalf is the Dallas Cowboys. With owner Jerry Jones expressing an “all-in” approach to the offseason, a trade for Metcalf could be the move that puts the Cowboys over the top. Pairing Metcalf with CeeDee Lamb would give quarterback Dak Prescott another top-tier weapon to work with, potentially elevating the Cowboys’ offense to new heights. In terms of what the Cowboys could offer in a trade for Metcalf, a package including first and second-round picks, along with a young receiver like Jalen Tolbert, could entice the Seahawks. This would give Seattle a solid return while also benefiting the Cowboys with a dynamic trio of Prescott, Lamb, and Metcalf on offense.Overall, a trade for DK Metcalf could be a win-win for both the Seahawks and the Cowboys. Seattle would receive valuable assets for a player who may be hesitant to sign an extension, while Dallas would add another playmaker to an already potent offense. Only time will tell if a deal comes to fruition, but it’s certainly an intriguing possibility for both teams.
