Update: Dave Roberts worries fans with an update on Tyler Glasnow’s injury status after a month of treatment! The Dodgers’ coach shares that this “slow” process may lead to Tyler losing his form!

There is some good news regarding Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitch Tyler Glasnow’s status – the rest of the regular season isn’t in jeopardy right now.

As for his return date, the update is a little bothersome. According to a social media post from The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya, manager Dave Roberts said Glasnow played catch out to 60 feet on Saturday, but it will be a “slow process” for him.

Glasnow was placed on the injured list on Aug. 16 when the Dodgers were in St. Louis with elbow tendonitis. It appears that it won’t be until September for Glanow’s return to the rotation which questions how long his ramp-up will be for him to be ready for the postseason.

The short-handed starting rotation for the Dodgers “is not ideal.”

At the moment, Glasnow and rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto have been good when healthy, but both are currently on the injured list and not expected to return until next month.

Yamamoto threw his second simulated game on Wednesday since going on the IL in June with a shoulder injury. Roberts described the outing as a “big step” for the rookie Yamamoto.

“I think at this point, everything’s starting to get all together,” Yamamoto said through his interpreter.

Yamamoto still has a few more boxes to check off before he can begin his rehab assignment. Next up will be a three-inning sim game in the coming days and then a minor-league rehab stint that could last another week or two.

“It’s obviously not ideal,” Roberts said. “But I still think getting him back to health and building him up is [what will give us] our best ball club. So we’re going to make the most of it.”

Roberts also acknowledged Glasnow’s return will likely stretch “beyond” the 15-day timeline which is frustrating.

“I know he’s probably frustrated,” the manager said. “But you’ve got to listen to your body.”

“He was fighting to stay off the IL and wants to be there for his teammates,” Roberts said, searching for optimism. “But I think with the build-up that he’s had, [missing] a couple weeks isn’t going to cut too much into what he’s already been built up to do.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing some challenges with their starting pitchers, specifically Tyler Glasnow. While there is some good news that his season isn’t in jeopardy, his return date is still up in the air. Manager Dave Roberts shared that Glasnow is slowly progressing in his recovery, with a recent update that he played catch out to 60 feet. However, it will be a “slow process” for him to make a full return to the rotation. The Dodgers are currently dealing with a short-handed starting rotation, as both Glasnow and rookie Yoshinobu Yamamoto are on the injured list. Yamamoto, who has been sidelined since June with a shoulder injury, is making progress towards his return. He recently completed his second simulated game and is looking to check off a few more boxes before starting his rehab assignment. Roberts acknowledged that having both pitchers sidelined is less than ideal, but the focus is on getting them back to full health for the postseason. It seems that the Dodgers will have to be patient with Glasnow’s return, as it may extend beyond the initial 15-day timeline.
Despite the frustrations, Roberts emphasized the importance of listening to the body and not rushing the recovery process. Glasnow’s dedication to his teammates and his build-up prior to the injury are positive signs for his eventual return.Stay tuned for more updates on the Dodgers’ pitching situation and other useful information.
