Kylian Mbappe scored both goals when PSG defeated Sociedad 2-1 in the second leg on the evening of March 5

And won 4-1 overall in the 1/8 round of the Champions League.

After losing the first leg 0-2 at Parc des Princes, Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil stated that there is still a possibility of a comeback in the second leg at Anoeta’s home field. 

He partly fulfilled that statement, helping the Spanish team finish more shots with 14 times, including half in the direction of PSG’s goal.

Before this match, there were many signs that PSG had internal problems. 

Coach Luis Enrique is not even sure about the possibility that Mbappe will start. 

Since announcing that he would not renew his contract and would leave in the summer of 2024, the French striker’s position at the club is gradually being affected.

However, Mbappe played from the start and played fully.

Meanwhile, Sociedad tried to shorten the score. The home team controlled the ball 48% and finished 12 times, including six times towards the goal. 

In the 45th minute, Takefusa Kubo almost scored for Sociedad when his long-range shot missed the post.

In a tense match, PSG needed a goal to feel more secure. 

In the 56th minute, they did just that when Lee Kang-in passed a long counterattack for Mbappe to rush down the left wing.

Surprising Remiro, raising the score in the second leg to 2-0. This is Mbappe’s third goal after two Sociedad matches.

The remaining efforts only helped Sociedad shorten the score to 1-2. 

After Kobo’s kick on the right wing in the 89th minute, captain Mikel Merino scored into PSG’s net. 

PSG won 4-1 on aggregate and entered the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
