Scottie Scheffler had one heck of an ordeal last Friday as he found himself under arrest while trying to get to the second round of the PGA Championship.
But it appears his contemporaries had very little sympathy for him as they made him the butt of jokes.
According to Xander Schauffele, who won said championship, several members of the PGA Tour roasted Scheffler in a group chat after his arrest.
Schaufele was on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Pardon My Take’ and revealed a group chat with members such as Gary Woodland,
Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas had plenty of jokes to throw at Scheffler.
Still, he insisted it wasn’t too bad, although one of the group members changed the group chat’s display picture to Scheffler’s mugshot.
Xander said Scottie was a good sport, praising him for maintaining his poise after what must have been a terrifying experience.
“He shot 66 coming out of jail,” Xander said in quotes transcribed by TMZ Sports. “I don’t think anyone else can say that. No one else on Tour has been able to do that one. So, I mean, he’s definitely at the top of the mountain for several reasons.”
Scottie Scheffler should be able to laugh about his arrest now, but he’s not quite out of the woods yet as he’s still facing four charges, including felony assault of a police officer.
The officer claims to have suffered multiple injuries while trying to carry out his duties, with Scheffler failing to adhere to his instructions and endangering him in the process.
The star golfer will have his day in court on June 3.
