The unbelievable truth about Mbappé’s speed (video)

Kylian Mbappe is one of the fastest players in the world. We often think so until statistics prove otherwise.

The PSG striker currently leads the scoring list in Ligue 1 this season with 24 goals.

Mbappe’s playing style relies heavily on quick bursts and diverse finishing abilities.

In early January, Mbappe reached a maximum speed of 36.07 km/h.

This is still the French star’s highest speed in Ligue 1 this season.

But the surprising thing is that the Top 10 fastest players of the season are not named Mbappe.

According to L’Equipe statistics, the fastest player in Ligue 1 in the 2023/24 season is Faris Moumbagna.

The Marseille striker was recorded reaching a speed of 36.37 km/h during a trip to Clermont in round 24 of Ligue 1.

Ranked 10th on this list is Shavy Babicka of Toulouse. The Gabon winger reached a maximum speed of 36.08 km/h in the match against Nantes in round 21 of Ligue 1.

Mbappe with a maximum speed of 36.07 km/h is still behind Babicka. In other words, in Ligue 1, the PSG star is not among the fastest players.

However, all comparisons are only relative. Mbappe once reached a speed of up to 38km/h in the victory over Sociedad (2-1) in the second leg of the 1/8 round of the Champions League.

The 25-year-old striker needs to repeat this impressive achievement in Ligue 1 to be recognized as the fastest player in the tournament.

In the eyes of Mbappe’s opponents, speed is always the most dangerous weapon of the French spearhead.

Speaking before the France-Germany friendly match, coach Julian Nagelsmann commented, “Mbappe runs 2km/h faster than every other player in the world.”
