Fans went wild in March this year! The reason? Shooter McGavin had, back then, revealed how Adam Sandler was working on the draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.
Even the likes of Paige Spiranac and Sydney Sweeney were hilariously roped into the speculations surrounding the sequel
with the former even responding how she “was born ready” for the role.
Anyhow, the hype doesn’t seem to have died down as fans were spotted trying to grab an opportunity to star in the second part of the famous movie.
A video was shared by NUCLR GOLF on their X handle showcasing how thousands of people lined up in response to a casting call.
They did so at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Jersey to appear as a stand-in for the upcoming filming of Happy Gilmore 2.
Back in March, the satirical X handle known as Tour Golf shared how Sydney Sweeney could be cast as the “Cart Girl.” The comical post was shared right after Christopher McDonald revealed the news of the sequel. “I saw Adam about two weeks ago,” recounted the star in an episode of The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima, “McDonald, you’re going to love this… How about that?’ And he goes and shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.” The revelation sure did rile up the fans seeing as to how this many attended the audition for a stand-in.
Fans thrown into a frenzy over Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 news
Fans can usually witness a golf tournament on the course. Usually, they are known as spectators but in rare cases like the Masters Tournaments, the people witnessing the major will be dubbed as ‘patrons’. Jack Whitaker, back in 1966, even received a ban for calling them a ‘mob’ instead of using the required term. And now, the spectators can also be called actors, owing to them being part of the Happy Gilmore 2 movie. Consequently, a fan commented, “just to be an extra on the golf course,” while another pointed out, “It was so ridiculous in there.”
When the news about the sequel was dropped, the talks about Paige Spiranac alongside Sydney Sweeney being cast for the same dominated the community, with the former being cast as the “Public Relations Lady.” Meanwhile, many took to the internet to mention how “This needs to happen,” while some responded, “On 2nd thought, I’m all in on Happy Gilmore 2.” There is no dearth of fans for the movie as a user on social media tagged another person to mention how they should have auditioned for the role; “@clarkyvegas you should have been in this line.”
If you think that the name ‘Happy Gilmore’ just alludes to the iconic movie, then you’re sorely wrong. An 18-year-old golfer, Landon Gilmore, won a long-drive competition just like how Adam Sandler did in the movie. This caused many to add the name “Happy” in front of his name, resulting in him being called ‘Happy Gilmore’. A fan recalled the same and pointed it out in the comments, “There’s a really good junior golfer named Happy Gilmore – look it up.”
The spectators witnessing a golf tournament need not be professionals or amateur golfers. They can just enjoy the game without excelling at the same. A user, funnily enough, took a jab at the people lining up for the opportunity to star in the iconic movie’s sequel. “And not a single person in line plays golf,” commented the fan as they spotted the line wrapped around an entire city block.
Many would, undoubtedly, be awaiting the arrival of Adam Sandler’s sequel, Happy Gilmore 2. And so, it’s not a surprise that they would also be willing to spend hours in the sun to even act as a stand-in for the same. Even Paige Spiranac and Sydney Sweeney would be eager to act in the film.
