Travis Kelce is adding to his already large portfolio, this time venturing into horse racing which coincidentally involves Taylor Swift.
On Tuesday, it was announced by Team Valor International founder and CEO Barry Irwin that the three-time Super Bowl champion had partnered
with the Zoldan family in purchasing a significant share of a three-year-old gelding called “Swift Delivery.”
It is currently unknown if the horse was already named or if Kelce elected to name it “Swift Delivery.”
The foundation for this deal appeared to be set when Kelce attended the Kentucky Derby with the Zoldan’s earlier in the year.
Phantom Fireworks, whom the Zoldan family is best known for, is based in Ohio and Alex Zoldan is close friends with the Kansas City Chiefs star.
The horse has had success in his recent outings, winning at Woodbine Racetrack after failing to crack the top two in his previous six races.
Mark Casse, the trainer, believes Swift Delivery is on a path of success, if all goes well for him and the horse.
“He’s a horse that we always thought a lot of, and he just didn’t perform — and now he’s performing,” Casse said, per ESPN. “This horse is good. He’s good right now, and he has the potential to go on and do big things.”
Kelce is not the only athlete to have a stake in a racehorse; Retired World Series champion Jayson Werth also has a stake in a horse, being the partial owner of Dornoch, who won the Belmont Stakes earlier this year.
Still, this latest venture by Kelce shows how the 34-year-old is always thinking about Swift, even though they are thousands of miles apart. Currently, Kelce is prepping for the 2024 NFL season and helping the Chiefs win their third consecutive Super Bowl title, his fourth in total.
Meanwhile, Swift has been touring the world as part of her “Eras Tour,” making it very difficult for the two to spend time with each other. Still, the two stars have made it a point to get quality time in, despite being in different countries and in different time zones.
“Taylor and Travis always prioritize each other even when they are physically apart. They are still in constant communication texting and FaceTiming each other,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “Travis sends Taylor flowers and loves to shower her with surprise gifts and tokens of gratitude. Their connection is unlike anything that they’ve ever experienced before.”
Kelce also attempted to support Swift after some of her shows in Vienna were canceled after a 19-year-old suspect planned to target concertgoers. Austrian authorities claimed the attack was to be carried out outside the venue, with knives and homemade bombs.
“Travis is advising her to make her own safety a top priority and wants her to get even more security,” an anonymous source explained, per Life & Style. “He can’t do much else, aside from pray that she’ll be OK. It’s been so horrible, he hated having to sit back and do nothing but wait.
“He wanted to rush to her side to protect her but obviously he couldn’t do that. Anyway, she had plenty of bodyguards to keep her safe, but still, it left him feeling pretty helpless.”
