Scottie Scheffler still receives a huge prize despite not participating in any tournaments this week (video)

Scottie Scheffler made his Olympic debut last week and brought home the prestigious Gold Medal for the U.S. Team.

While the victory didn’t earn the world’s No. 1 golfer any points in the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Standings, it didn’t matter to Scheffler.

This season, the American golfer has won six times on Tour, including his second Masters title and becoming the first golfer to defend The Players Championship.

Scheffler’s four other wins include the Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage,

Memorial Tournament and Travelers Championship – all of which were signature events, helping him earn huge bonuses and FedEx Cup points.

As a result, Scheffler has surpassed most other players to lead the season’s standings with 5,993 points,

nearly 2,000 points ahead of fellow countryman Xander Schauffele in second place. This week’s Wyndham Championship will award 500 points to the champion,

but Schauffele did not participate, and even if he played and won, Schauffele could not catch up with Scheffler.

Thus, the world’s No. 1 golfer has officially won the Comcast Business Tour Top 10, an award created in the 2018-2019 season to honor the golfer with the highest score in the annual season on the PGA Tour, and brings home 40% of the total prize fund of $20 million, equivalent to $8 million. The American golfer also won this award in 2022, as well as finishing second last year behind Jon Rahm.

That puts Scheffler’s earnings at more than $36 million for the 2024 season, a number that will continue to grow as the season-ending FedEx Cup Playoffs, which feature three big-money events, have yet to begin.

Last year, Scheffler broke the record for single-season earnings with more than $21 million. This year, the world’s No. 1 golfer is continuing to break that record himself.
