Rickie Fowler’s nightmare became reality as he continuously loses major tournaments due to seemingly trivial matters, as if c.u.r.s.e.d (video)

In almost every tournament, a certain record is either made, or broken, and this year too, this has been happening. Wondering for whom? Well, for Rickie Fowler.

His four-year winless streak was finally conquered when he won the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This victory marked the sixth PGA Tour win for the 35-year-old pro golfer.

However, this year not only did he fail to defend his title at the Detroit Golf Club but also finished at T31. Sad, right? Well yes, it was, especially for the loyal Fowler fans.

After the entire Rocket Mortgage and Fowler’s sponsorship ordeal, the two seemed to be really excited to come together again! But, this is golf, right?

This season, the six-time PGA Tour winner is en route to making a record. But this record won’t be the one for which people will remember him.

This record has to do with his PGA Tour finishes. But what is this ‘in the making’ adverse record that could become a reality?

There is a fan account on X  that keeps Ricki Fowler’s enthusiasts updated about his games and tournaments. In a recent post, it hinted at the fact that this might become the first PGA Tour season for the 35-year-old when he fails to finish inside the top 10 of even a single tournament. The caption read: “Rickie Fowler has never gone a full PGA Tour season without a Top 10 in his entire career. Top 10’s this year: 0.”

He started the year by finishing 56th in the Sentry. The six-time PGA Tour winner has missed six cuts in 2024 so far, three of which happened in June and July alone. His latest missed cut was in the 2024 Scottish Open, where he missed the cut line by a whopping 7 strokes. Also, his best finish so far has been T18 at the RBC Heritage, and following that is his Travelers Championship’s T20 finish. In the rest of the events, where he did make the cut, he finished outside of the top 25.

This year, Fowler is not just having trouble finishing in the top 10 in the tournaments. He has also faced troubles outside the greens as well, but related to work itself!

What’s going on with Rickie Fowler’s sponsorship deals?

When the six-time PGA Tour winner didn’t wear his longtime sponsor, the Farmers Insurance’s logo, at the Sentry this year, it created a spark in the golf world. The PGA Tour pro and the insurance entity ended their decade-long sponsorship deal. Earlier this year, while addressing the issue, Fowler told the Associated Press, “I think they have a new CEO (Raul Vargas) and are downsizing.” Every year since 2009, Fowler has played in the Farmers Insurance Open, but this year his name did not appear in the field list.
