The Olympics opened with a vast presentation that included what many people worldwide think was a parody of The Last Supper created by drag queens. It received a lot of backlash, causing one of the performers to respond.

The opening ceremony demonstrated an interpretation of the Greek God Dionysus. It was centered by French DJ Barbara Butch, who many thought was mocking Jesus Christ, and has received a lot of backlash.

Butch had to respond to the backlash, and she led off by stating that she was trying to “unite people” with her art. People don’t seem to care, though, as Butch has received tons of death threats and has filed suit.

Butch’s lawyer, Audrey Msellati, released a statement, “Butch has been the target of an… …extremely violent campaign of cyberharassment and defamation.” She also added Butch has been “threatened with death, torture, and rape.”
