Novak Djokovic’s Epic Olympic Triumph: From Legendary Career Golden Slam to Eyeing Los Angeles 2028, Can the 37-Year-Old Tennis Icon Defy Age and Continue to Dominate?

Novak Djokovic has conquered everything that can be won on a tennis court, entering even more deeply into tennis history by putting on his neck that Olympic gold medal that he has chased and dreamed of for years. Many did not believe it but he, once again, has proved those who did not believe it wrong and has obtained a legendary success, triumphing over a boy 16 years younger and who many saw as a clear favorite.

With the Olympic victory, many are now wondering what the motivations are for a tennis player like that and if Djokovic will still find motivation to play but he made quite surprising statements: “There are always doubts once you reach this age but the faith and belief that I can achieve my goals is stronger and stronger. I was clear that this was my last chance to win an Olympic gold and so I had to focus at all costs to achieve my goal. There is nothing better than seeing myself on the podium and listening to the Serbian anthem with the flag raised.”

Nole also talked about a possible participation in another Olympics and did not close the doors to it: “Well, it’s true, I will be 41 when the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games are played and I would like to be there.”

Still on the retirement, the tennis player continued: “I already know that I have won all the big tournaments but I still love this sport too much, I love competing and training every day, I want to continue to improve and take care of my body.
Tennis really means a lot to me and I do my best to give everything back to this sport, now I don’t know what the future will bring me but I think it’s time to celebrate.”

Can he really play Los Angeles Olympics 2028? Djokovic is the only athlete who could really participate in 6 Olympics in 20 years. His robotic tennis and his body can achieve this feat. It is too premature to talk about it now, but it should not be forgotten that the Serbian could also decide to participate in the men’s doubles or mixed doubles. After the triumph and the performances shown yesterday, and considering how he takes care of his body, we should not be surprised if we see him again on the courts of Los Angeles Olympics.

The 2

4-time Slam champion, already a true record-man, holds a significant number of records, but thanks to yesterday’s victory he has set another. Nole is in fact the fifth player in history to win the Career Golden Slam, that is to conquer the 4 Grand Slams and the Olympic gold in singles: before him only legends of the caliber of Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and Serena Williams had managed to do so.

A legendary career that of the Balkan champion, which he has no intention of completing: “I already know that I have won all the big tournaments but I still love this sport too much, I love competing and training every day, I want to continue improving and taking care of my body. Tennis really means a lot to me and I do my best to give everything back to this sport, now I don’t know what the future will bring me but I think it’s time to celebrate,” explained the 37-year-old from Belgrade with great pride.

As mentioned before, Nole also talked about a possible participation in another Olympics and did not close the doors to it: “Well, it’s true, I will be 41 years old when the Olympic Games in Los Angeles are played and I would like to be there.”

“I want to play in Los Angeles. He (Troicki, Serbia’s captain) is making fun of my calendar goals. I dont now if he’s laughing because he thinks it’s unrealistic or because he’s like: ‘OK, another 4 years with this guy…’”
