News: After Oliver Crawford’s disappointing loss to JJ Wolf, England now has fewer than six players remaining in the US Open. With such a small contingent left, what are the chances of bringing glory back to England?

You can see how all of our British hopefuls get on by watching the US Open qualifying live on Sky Sports+ from 4pm Monday through Thursday.

Then tune into the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open, from August 26 to September 9, with live coverage on Sky Sports Tennis and any match available on Sky Sports+.

Of the 10 Brits in qualifying, seven remain going into the second round, including all four women entered.

Heather Watson is the most experienced of the bunch at 32 years old, having reached a career-high ranking of 38 back in 2015.

She plays world number 101 Aliaksandra Sasnovich in round two from 4pm.

Sonay Kartal, who reached the third round of Wimbledon earlier this summer.

Which included a win over 29th seed Sorana Cirstea – is on court at the same time, taking on Simona Waltert of Switzerland.

Lily Miyazaki, who came through qualifying last year, goes up against Kathinka von Deichmann from approximately 7pm, while Francesca Jones is on court from 10pm to take on Ena Shibahara.

In the men’s qualifying, Billy Harris, Paul Jubb and Jan Choinski are left flying the flag in the second round of qualifying on Wednesday.

Harris will face Bolivian world number 106 Murkel Dellien in round two from approximately 5.30pm, following Watson’s match, while Jubb takes on Finland’s Otto Virtanen at roughly 8.30pm. Choinski is up against Valentin Vacherot from around 10pm.

British No 3 Harris battled into the second round of qualifying with a three-set victory over Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, who made his grand slam debut at Wimbledon this summer, edged through 6-3 2-6 7-5 in two hours and 18 minutes.

Choinski also came through his opening qualifying match, beating another Argentinian Pedro Cachin in straight sets, 6-4 6-2, but there was disappointment for Oliver Crawford, who was beaten 6-4 6-4 by American JJ Wolf.

In women’s qualifying, British number four Miyazaki progressed to the second round with a straight-sets victory over Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic.

Jones came through an epic three-set match against Spain’s Rebeka Masarova, clinching her progress through to the next round via a final-set tie-break – it finishing 6-1 2-6 7-6 (10-6).

Watson has never made it past the first round in 10 prior visits to Flushing Meadows and has failed to qualify in the past two years, but went through to the second round of qualifying after an emphatic 6-1 6-1 win over last year’s junior Wimbledon champion Clervie Ngounoue.

Kartal also impressed as she swept past Guiomar Maristany in straight sets, 6-3 6-3.

In the men’s qualifying, Liam Broady suffered a disappointing first-round exit, losing in straight sets 7-5 7-6 (9-7) to Otto Virtanen.

It means that there will not be a second all-British tie in qualifying after Jubb beat countryman Jacob Fearnley 6-1 7-6 (7-2) to set up a meeting with Virtanen next.

Both Jubb and Fearnley impressed during the grass-court season this summer, with the latter winning his first ATP Challenger title at the Nottingham Open before taking a set off Novak Djokovic when reaching the second round of Wimbledon.

Jubb, meanwhile, earned a first top-20 win when defeating Ben Shelton at the Mallorca Championships on his way to a first ATP semi-final appearance. And it is he whose US Open dreams remain alive going into the second round of qualifying.
