Justin Thomas is gearing up to participate in the 2024 Tour Championship.
The final tournament of FedExCup playoffs will be held from Thursday, August 29 to Sunday, September 1 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
Thomas was the last player to qualify for the 2024 Tour Championship. He’s positioned 30th in the FedExCup standings.
Before the Tour Championship, an inaugural season of Creator Classic was also held at the East Lake Golf Club.
Sixteen golf creators participated in the tournament which Luke Kwon won.
In the pre-tournament conference, Justin Thomas was asked about the creators’ event
and his views on young people increasingly interested in becoming influencers as well as professional golfers.
“Yeah, it’s very cool. It’s obviously very different. That’s the day and age we’re in right now. At the end of the day, if it gets more kids, more people interested in golf, that’s what’s most important,” Justin Thomas replied. (via ASAP Sports)
He further added:
“I don’t know that field very well, but I know that, yeah, there’s a handful of influencers, people out there that people know them probably way better than they know me. And that’s not right or wrong, but that’s just the power of it.”
Thomas appreciated the creators for taking the time during a significant week to play the course and to contribute to ‘create a little bit more buzz.’ He further said:
“It also gives kids a different avenue to want to be involved in golf. I think that’s a good thing, regardless if it’s professional or influencer.”
Justin Thomas will be playing at the Tour Championship for the eighth time. He will tee off with Christiaan Bezuidenhout at 11:16 a.m. ET on Thursday, August 29.
