Jon Rahm shares his struggles with financial difficulties following a series of recent losses (video)

Despite his tough loss at the Olympics, Jon Rahm has said that it was one of the two most meaningful weeks of his career.

He referred to it as the ‘ultimate prize’ representing the nation.

On Sunday, August 4, Rahm entered the final round with a joint 54-hole lead. However, he ended up finishing T4 after shooting 70, his worst round of the week.

Following his round at the Olympics, he said the week meant a lot to him, despite not winning any prize money.

“Two of the most meaningful weeks in my career is two events where we make no mone,” he said.

And I’ve said that a million times, and I’ll say it again because the Ryder Cup and this one are up there.”

“It’s different to the Ryder Cup. It’s different. It’s not a major either. But I feel like it’s almost the ultimate prize representing your country.

And yeah, I mean, that’s what makes it so special,” he added.

Jon Rahm was the favorite to win the gold at Le Golf National and he started quite well with five birdies on the front nine to quickly go 19-under. On the back nine, he started with a birdie but that’s when the anticlimax happened. On the next eight holes, he made four bogeys, one double bogey, and picked up just one birdie to close the round at 1-under 70.

“I don’t remember the last time I played a tournament and I felt this,” he said on his performance. “I not only feel like I let myself down but to just not get it done for the whole country of Spain, it’s a lot more painful than I would like it to be.”I think by losing today, I’m getting a much deeper appreciation of what this tournament means to me than if I had won any medal. I’m getting a taste of how much it really mattered. I’ve been very honoured to represent Spain in many, many different events, and to not get this one done stings quite a bit,” he added.
