Odds Put Caitlin Clark In WNBA MVP Race
Caitlin Clark’s place in the WNBA Rookie of the Year race has been oft discussed so far in the Indiana Fever star’s first season. But according to betting odds, she actually measures up when it comes to MVP as well.
FanDuel odds have Clark in the top 10 for Most Valuable Player, of course that is with the caveat that Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson is currently tracking way ahead of the field as the heavy favorite overall. Wilson is listed at -470 to win the award with Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx and Alyssa Thomas of the Connecticut Sun both coming in at +1800. The rest of the pack is pretty bunched after that with three New York Liberty members in Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu also in the group.
Clark is a huge long shot at +15000 to actually hoist the hardware but placing on the list at all does highlight just how impressive her start has been, in contrast to some of the conversation surrounding the former Iowa standout this season. Looking beyond the comparison with fellow rookies, Caitlin joins Stewart and Collier as the only players in the league in the top 20 in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals. She also is right at the top of W in three-pointers made.
So while Clark definitely faced an adjustment period, it’s hard to say she hasn’t adapted well to the pros, with the gambling odds speaking much more loudly than anyone’s opinion on the matter.
