Caitlin Clark Reflects on Historic WNBA Triple-Double: ‘I’m Very Lucky and Fortunate’

Caitlin Clark is feeling thankful for her teammates.
The 2024 No. 1 pick became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double on Saturday as her Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty 83-78, and following the game she shouted out her teammates for helping her enter the record books.
“You don’t get (a triple-double) without your teammates finishing baskets for you,” Clark said. “I’m very lucky and fortunate.”

Clark recorded 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds to secure the triple-double. It was also the first triple-double recorded in Fever history.
Beyond the individual accomplishment, the victory for Indiana was a huge one. New York entered the game with a 17-3 record, boasting the best record in the WNBA.
The win shows growth and development from Indiana as it hopes to improve on its 13 wins from last season.
The Fever will look to build off of Saturday’s momentum boost and gain more ground in the Eastern Conference. It will get a chance to do so on Wednesday when they host the Washington Mystics.
