George Kneiser was stunned after a phone call with his mother to share his victory news: “She laughed as if it were a j0ke” (video)

George Kneiser is a player who has made his career on the PGA Tour’s feeder circuits.

On Monday, August 6, Kneiser qualified for the Wyndham Championship, which will be his PGA Tour debut.

Naturally, the moment elicited a variety of emotions and one of the moments involved a hilarious exchange between Kneiser and his mother.

Like anyone in his position, George Kneiser called his mother to break the news of his upcoming PGA Tour debut. The following dialog ensued (via PGA Tour):

Mom: “Was it the caddie or the player?”George Kneiser: “It was a little bit of both, but the caddie was great. The player did okay.”M: “EEK Yay, George.

What happens now?”GK: That’s a really good question. I don’t know.M: “I’m so happy for you, George. You’re going to get through. I’m just checking my flight reservation.”

The 2024 Wyndham Championship Monday Qualifier was played at Bermuda Run Country Club. George Kneiser shot a 6-under total to tie for first place with Cooper Musselman.

The other two spots were decided in an eight-player playoff. In the end, veterans Martin Trainer and Henrik Norlander claimed the final two tickets.

The Wyndham Championship is the PGA Tour’s regular-season finale and sets the field for the first event of the FedEx Cup playoffs. The tournament is played at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Who is George Kneiser?

George Kneiser, 26, has an incredible golf story as he didn’t start playing golf until his sophomore year of high school. With a very short golfing career, he only received one offer to play collegiate golf in the United States.

The offer came from the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, and only because the men’s team lost a player at the last minute. However, Kneiser was able to seize the opportunity and carve out a niche for himself in his four seasons as a collegiate player.

It took him some time to adjust to the new level, but his improvement was remarkable. In his junior season, he won the conference championship, while in his senior season, he won another event, the 2020 Grover Page Classic.

After graduating from college in 2020, Kneiser began his professional career but had to start playing on minitours to make his way to the PGA Tour’s feeder circuits.

In 2022, he managed to earn his PGA Tour Canada card but lost it after just one season. Not one to give up, he went to Q-School and regained his tour card.

In 2023, Kneiser managed to finish in the top 25 on the PGA Tour Canada points list, which allowed him to keep his card. In the 2024 season, he played six events on the now renamed PGA Tour Americas, with only two cuts made.
