During the 2024 U.S. Open on Sunday afternoon, professional golfer Rory McIlroy was poised to secure victory.
However, a late mistake led to him losing the lead as the competition reached its climax.
On the 16th hole, with McIlroy leading by one stroke over Bryson DeChambeau, a simple, three-foot putt would have secured the lead going into the last couple of holes.
But McIlroy choked and missed the simple shot, causing him to lose his lead. He went into the 17th hole tied with DeChambeau with a minus-six.
McIlroy later made the same mistake on the last hole, putting him at minus-five and costing him the championship entirely.
