Dak Prescott unexpectedly criticizes the Dallas Cowboys after news of a new recruit to ‘assist’ him following multiple losses: ‘Are they implying I’m playing poorly and want me to step down?’

The Dallas Cowboys are projected to land another big-named wide receiver and special weapon for quarterback Dak Prescott next spring.

Dak Prescott’s Cowboys are off to a slow start, having dropped back-to-back games at home following a convincing Week 1 road win over the Cleveland Browns. Prescott has done his part, completing 60.7 percent of pass attempts for 851 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

But once again, the Cowboys are lacking a consistent playmaking No. 2 wide receiver to help Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Jalen Tolbert is second in receiving behind Lamb with 136 yards, and veteran Brandin Cooks has just eight catches for 75 yards and one touchdown.

In their latest 2025 first-round NFL mock draft, CBS Sport projects that the Cowboys will finally fill the No. 2 receiver hole and help Dak Prescott by landing Ohio State Buckeyes star Emeka Egbuka in the 2025 NFL Draft:

Emeka Egbuka would have been one of the first wide receivers taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he surprised the football world in January by announcing that he was returning to college.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound wide receiver has 14 receptions for 266 yard and one touchdown over his first three games of 2024. A renowned deep threat specialist and route-running guru, Egbuka is the type of player that could help the Dak Prescott-led offense reach another level.

Dak Prescott Needs More Help On Offense

The Cowboys haven’t had a true No. 2 wide receiver since Amari Cooper in 2021, whom Jerry Jones curiously traded to the Cleveland Browns in a cap-saving move two years ago. Cooks and Tolbert haven’t been able to fill that void, and Jones can’t wait around forever on one of them to step up.

Whether it’s at the trade deadline, 2025 free agency or the draft, it’s imperative that the Cowboys land another stud receiver to help Prescott and Lamb. As the Baltimore Ravens showed in Week 3, defending the Dallas offense is that much easier when Lamb isn’t taking over games.

The Dallas Cowboys are in desperate need of a reliable second wide receiver to complement Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb on offense. While Lamb has been producing consistently, the lack of a consistent playmaker as the No. 2 receiver has been evident in their recent games. Jalen Tolbert has shown some potential, but veteran Brandin Cooks has yet to make a significant impact.Looking ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft, CBS Sports projects that the Cowboys will address this need by selecting Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State. Egbuka, who has been a standout performer for the Buckeyes, would bring a new level of talent and versatility to the Cowboys’ offense. With his skill set as a deep threat specialist and route-running expert, Egbuka has the potential to elevate the entire offense led by Prescott.Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, understands the importance of providing Prescott with more weapons to succeed. Since the departure of Amari Cooper in 2021, the Cowboys have been searching for a true No. 2 receiver to step up. While Cooks and Tolbert have shown glimpses of potential, the Cowboys cannot afford to wait any longer for consistent production.Whether it’s through a trade, free agency, or the draft, the Cowboys must prioritize adding another dynamic receiver to their roster. As demonstrated in their recent loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the offense struggles when Lamb is unable to dominate the game. By adding a talent like Egbuka to the mix, the Cowboys could become a more formidable force in the league.Stay tuned for more updates and exciting developments as the Cowboys look to enhance their offensive arsenal.
