Charlie Woods went through varied emotions in the last two months.
At first, he made his debut in the USGA and relayed his dream of following Tiger Woods’s path and winning a USGA Championship.
He made his way to the Oakhills Country Club, but things did not go as planned.
He shot 22 over 162 and missed the chance to lift the US Junior Amateur trophy. There was a lot of buzz and criticism. But exactly a month later, he redeemed himself.
The 15-year-old junior golfer played in the South Florida PGA Junior Cup and won it by carding 2 under 214, the only lowest score in the event.
He proudly said, “I wanted to prove to myself that I could do better,” and he did better!
After his success, where will the young prodigy play again? Taking a look at his schedule for 2023, Charlie Woods will play in one event in September.
Last year, Woods was 35th on the leaderboard of the South Florida PGA Labor Day Classic. He will surely play the event again and push for a better finish than the 2023 season. The event was scheduled from September 2nd to 4th in 2023 and might follow a similar timeline this year as well at the PGA National Champions course in Palm Beach.
That pretty much concludes Charlie Woods’s schedule for the month of September, as he would be starting school the same month, getting busier with his studies, and playing junior events for his school, Benjamin High School. In 2023, he helped his school win the Florida High School Athletic Association Class A state championship. His goal would be to do the same in 2024 as well.
After this event, when will Charlie Woods potentially play next?
When will Charlie Woods play next after September?
As usual, the 15-year-old junior golfer will have many eyes on him after he takes his school duties. The fans would be wondering about his whereabouts, and here are two events he may turn up, though it may take more than two months to see Charlie Woods tee up again. The first event he may participate in is the South Florida PGA Tour Championship.
The event usually takes place in the first week of December and is invitation-only. Despite being ranked 38th in the 2023 season, the SFPGA Junior Tour invited Charlie Woods for the event. This year his rank has significantly improved, as is 12th on the season-long standings. After this event, the junior golfer will surely make his fifth appearance at the PNC Championship.
Team Woods was T5 and just six shots behind the winning Langers. The father-son duo make another appearance at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and end their 2024 season with a bang!
