Charley Hull has announced that she is in better condition for the Women’s Open after recently struggling with a shoulder injury.
She stated that she is healthy and ready to compete in her home Major.
Hull is entering the Women’s Open field for the 13th time in her career.
This year’s event is set to kick off on Thursday, August 22, at St. Andrews, UK. This is the third time St. Andrews will host the competition.
Recently, Charley Hull has been struggling with a shoulder injury,
which forced her to skip the Aramco Team Series in July and kept her away from action for more than a month. However, she has played in a couple of events since then.
“My shoulder just got a little bit tight so I had, like, acupuncture, and, like,, needles in it, like, every other day,” she said on Tuesday, August 20. “I’ve actually got it after this. Because when it’s cold, it can play up a bit. I’ve got — is it degenerate arthritis, in it, as well. So when it does get cold, it gets a bit stiff. So just try to cope it warm.”
“Apart from that, I’m healthy and ready to go,” she added.
Earlier, Hull said that she was nervous in the first round of the Olympics as she was returning to action after five weeks.
“I have all my, like, little check points. And at home I was playing some great golf. But it was just, like, the first round of the Olympics, I don’t know why. And then last three rounds I was, like, under par and then I was back to myself and carried it on last week,” she continued.
Hull finished T27 in Paris but put up a good performance at the Women’s Scottish Open last week, where she made a solo fifth-place finish.
When will Charley Hull tee off at the Women’s Open?
Charley Hull is grouped with Lilia Vu and Nelly Korda for the first two rounds of the Women’s Open. The trio will tee off on Thursday at 8:10 a.m. ET from the first tee.
Last year, Hull finished runner-up, losing to Vu by six strokes. This has been her only top-10 finish at the Women’s Open. Overall, she has made the cut seven times in 12 starts. The 28-year-old golfer has finished runner-up at Majors three times in her career but has yet to win one. However, she will be hoping to end the drought soon.
