Boston’s sports radio scene is experiencing a significant shift, with major changes announced at WEEI, one of the city’s most prominent stations.
On Wednesday, the station revealed a new lineup that includes the departure of Christian Fauria,
a former NFL tight end and two-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots.
Fauria, who has been a fixture at WEEI since 2014, is leaving as part of the station’s restructuring by its parent company, Audacy.
Previously co-hosting the “Gresh and Fauria” show, Fauria’s role will now be filled by new programming.
The new lineup
The updated lineup features “Jones and Keefe,” with Adam Jones and Rich Keefe, airing from 10:00 to 14:00, followed by “The WEEI Afternoon Show” with Andy Hart and Christian Arcand from 14:00 to 18:00. These changes mark the end of Fauria’s run at the station, where he became a familiar voice to Boston sports fans.
“These exciting updates bring together a dynamic mix of talent with New England roots that will continue to deliver top-tier content to Boston’s biggest sports fans,” said Mike Thomas, senior vice president and market manager for Audacy Boston.
“Adam Jones and Rich Keefe’s notable on-air styles and rapport will energize our midday show, while Andy Hart and Christian Arcand’s experience will help bolster afternoon drive. We’re looking forward to this next chapter of WEEI weekdays continuing to make WEEI the go-to destination for everything Boston sports.”
Fauria, who played in the NFL from 1995 to 2007 with teams such as the Seahawks, Patriots, Redskins, and Panthers, now finds himself searching for a new opportunity in the world of sports radio.
