After devoting episodes to Cyril Hanouna and Gérard Depardieu, the show Envoyé Spécial will tackle Kylian Mbappé this Thursday evening.
And more particularly to the mother of the French footballer, Fayza Lamari.
Often in the shadows, Fayza Lamari is much more than Kylian Mbappé’s mother.
She has played a major role in her son’s career since its beginnings and is known to be extremely tough in business.
All for the good of her son for whom she devoted herself body and soul.
Bondy at heart
The Mbappé family is forever linked to the town of Bondy, in Seine-Saint-Denis. And this well before the explosion of Kylian and his brother Ethan.
When Pope Wilfrid was coaching the local club, in which his son would eventually emerge, Fayza played handball at a high level.
With the Bondy club, she reached division 1 before ending her career at the age of 27, in 2001.
She then retrained as a leisure center leader, while devoting herself to the education of her two sons. And the mother is already watching over the grain.
“Kylian was the only student in 5th grade to have, at his mother’s initiative, a form for the teacher to fill out, in order to see how he had behaved in class ,” said his former French teacher, Nicole.
Lorfèvre in a documentary on the L’Équipe channel in 2018. But if she is strict with her children, she is also their number one supporter.
In February 2020, Kylian Mbappé shared a pivotal moment he considers the “turning point of his life” on The Players’ Tribune: “During a match, I was terrified and almost couldn’t run because I was so scared.”
I barely touched the ball. And I’ll never forget, after the game, my mom came down on the field and grabbed me by the ears.
She told me: “’You’re going to remember this moment for the rest of your life. You must always believe in yourself, even if you fail. You can miss 60 goals.
Nobody cares. But the fact that you refuse to play because you are afraid, it can haunt you for the rest of your life.’ ”
Perfectly shared roles
Well before the start of his professional career, Kylian Mbappé created a very solid professional entourage, made up largely of his own parents who dedicated themselves exclusively to the career of their son(s).
Once his great potential was discovered, his mother worked to find him a club and placed him at AS Monaco, where his career took off, when he was only fifteen years old.
And the whole family settled on the rock to support the son as much as possible.
If his father Wilfrid Mbappé always took care of “the football part”, his mother explained to Le Parisien in 2021 that she is “above all his mother”.
“A mother who takes care of her communication, her image and her societal projects.”
To carry out her “mission”, she scrutinizes everything that is said about her son in the media.
So in 2022, when a journalist castigates Kylian Mbappé for betraying PSG to join Real Madrid, Fayza Lamari is not shy
“Mr. Hermel (journalist on RMC Sport, Editor’s note), when we don’t know, we keep quiet. No agreement was ever given. Yours truly.”
The sequel proved him right since his son did not join the Merengues that summer and ultimately extended his contract for two years with the Parisian club.
Little by little, Fayza Lamari is establishing herself as an outstanding businesswoman.
Beyond managing her son’s career, she also manages eight companies, including her son’s association IBKM, “Inspired By Kylian Mbappé”.
This association aims to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve their dreams.
Uncompromising with her son
If Fayza Lamari affirms that she and her ex-partner are “the advisors” of her son and “not the decision-makers”, this does not mean that she cannot be intransigent with him.
In extracts broadcast in preview of this Thursday evening’s show, she explains how she imposed on her son
That 30% of the profits generated by the Blues captain’s companies be donated to IBKM, her son’s association .
“I told him: ‘below 30%, I don’t do it! I’m retiring and I’m doing like everyone else: I’m going on vacation to the Maldives, but I’m not working for you!’” she says.
“ At the beginning, I told him we’re going 50/50 but we talked and we came down to 30.”
