Ethan Mbappe marked his senior debut for Paris Saint-Germain by joining his elder brother Kylian on the pitch, helping their side beat Metz 3-1 on December 20, 2023

Ethan is still a teenager and has been at the club around the same amount of time as his older brother. 

When Kylian joined the Parisian team, his younger sibling joined the academy from the Bondy system in 2017.

In 2017, Kylian was playing for Monaco before he left for the French capital on loan and then went on to secure a world-record fee for a teenager worth €180 million a year later. 

The transfer remains the second most expensive in history, behind only the €222m PSG paid to sign Neymar in August 2017.

Kylian Mbappe has enjoyed great success with PSG and France and is now one of the finest players in world football. 

His brother has quite the act to follow, but there are high hopes for a young player who has already established his place in the first-team set-up.

Born in December 2006, Ethan Mbappe is the younger brother of Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.

By signing for their local team Bondy. After spending two years there, he copied Kylian’s path with a move to PSG in 2017. Ethan marked his Under-12 team debut with a goal.

After signing a three-year contract in June 2021, Ethan made his debut with the club’s senior team in a friendly against Paris FC at the age of 15 in December 2022.

In preparation for 2023/24, he earned a spot on the preseason tour in Asia and started in a 3-0 friendly win over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Just a month or two into the new campaign, he was included in the competitive matchday squad for PSG for the first time

Although he remained an unused substitute in the team’s 3-2 defeat to Nice.

Ethan has been a key figure for the PSG Under-19s this season and has played in all six of their UEFA Youth League group-stage matches. 

On December 20, 2023, Ethan then made his professional debut with PSG, entering the game as a substitute in their 3-1 Ligue 1 victory over Metz.

“I think it was a nice birthday present for my brother,” Ethan said after the match, which took place on Kylian Mbappe’s 25th birthday.

“I’m very happy for him, as well as myself. He scored two great goals on his birthday so I think he’s got to be happy. Actually, one he scored, the other was a gift.”

While Kylian Mbappe is a forward, Ethan Mbappe has spent his young career as a midfielder.

Despite them being brothers, Kylian and Ethan play the game in very different ways. Kylian, who is right-footed, thrives on his speed and top-notch finishing. 

Ethan, on the other hand, is left-footed and acts as a cool No. 6 sitting just in front of the defence.

Ethan receives short passes from his defenders and looks to help his side transition and crank up the tempo on the attack. 

He’s calm on the ball, even when he’s facing his own goal, and is quick to recover possession when lost.

Fortunately for Kylian, it appears as though Ethan won’t be stealing any goals from him anytime soon. They’ve got their own styles and are both proving their worth.

Ethan Mbappe was born on December 29, 2006. He celebrated his 17th birthday a little over a week after making his senior debut for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.
