After the opening game between the Chiefs and Ravens, fans completely turned their backs and called for a “Boycott NFL,” condemning the disgusting way they exploited a football game for their own gain!

Fans are calling for a boycott of the NFL following Thursday night’s kickoff game between the Chiefs and Ravens.

The AFC rivals faced off in an entertaining affair that ended with a potential game-tying play being scrubbed because of a foot on the line. However, the fixture also proved frustrating at the start due to multiple early flags.

Another point of contention was that the Black national anthem, ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ was sung before ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’

Tasha Cobbs Leonard, a Grammy Award-winning artist, sang said anthem at Arrowhead Stadium ahead of the game.

Black National Anthem Being Performed Ahead Of Fixture Between Chiefs And Ravens Sparked Outrage

There was some outrage after it was announced that the song would be performed before the Chiefs and Ravens squared off. NFL teams began including it after the murder of George Floyd in 2020, and it has been performed before the Super Bowl every year since.

Of course, some fans are for it, but based on last night’s reactions, most are against it.

Many fans are upset that the NFL started its season by playing the Black National Anthem before the Star-Spangled Banner last night at the #Ravens vs. #Chiefs Game.

“Boycott the NFL” is trending.

“Just stop watching the stupid NFL, the problem will solve itself,” one vented.

“Even the black players are underwhelmed lol,” someone added.

“Dumbest s**t I’ve ever witnessed!” one person wrote.

“Why don’t just have one anthem. We are all Americans lol,” another suggested.

“Yeah, why can’t we have one anthem. The National anthem is for every American. All these other anthems are try to make us divided,” one comment read.

While the anthem’s inclusion has been met with rife criticism, it’s highly unlikely that NFL football will experience any boycott this season. The song being removed from gameday programs is also unlikely.

The NFL Kickoff game between the Chiefs and Ravens generated mixed reactions among fans, with some calling for a boycott of the league. The highly anticipated AFC matchup ended in controversy with a potential game-tying play being nullified due to a player stepping out of bounds. Despite the thrilling finish, the game got off to a rocky start with numerous penalties disrupting the flow of play. One point of contention that sparked outrage was the performance of the Black national anthem, ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing,’ before ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’ Grammy Award-winning artist, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, delivered a powerful rendition of the anthem at Arrowhead Stadium, but not everyone was pleased with the decision to include it in the pre-game festivities. The inclusion of the Black national anthem has been a divisive issue among fans, especially in light of recent social and political tensions. While some support the gesture as a symbol of unity and solidarity, others believe it only serves to further divide an already polarized nation. The controversy surrounding the anthem’s performance has reignited debates about patriotism, identity, and inclusivity in American sports.Despite calls for a boycott of the NFL over the anthem controversy, it is unlikely that the league will see a significant drop in viewership or attendance. Football remains a beloved pastime for millions of Americans, and the allure of the game is unlikely to be overshadowed by political disputes. Ultimately, the NFL will continue to navigate the complex intersection of sports, culture, and activism, striving to strike a balance that resonates with its diverse fan base.
