Two-time major champion Justin Thomas has struggled for his best form in 2024 and it has been laid bare by the fact that Scottie Scheffler’s caddie has seemingly won more money on the PGA Tour than him
Scottie Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, has reportedly earned more in prize money than two-time major champion Justin Thomas on the PGA Tour during the 2024 campaign.
Scheffler proved to be a dominant figure all season, securing seven PGA Tour victories throughout the year and clinching the FedEx Cup championship.
And with his success of course came financial reward too, as the world No. 1 raked in a whopping £47 million ($62.3m).
It was not just Scheffler who reaped the benefits though.
His sidekick, Scott also banked a nice slice of the winnings, with his reported earnings placing him among the top-20 in the 2024 PGA Tour Money List.
NBC estimates that Scott pocketed a cool £4 million ($5.2m) for his efforts alongside Scheffler, ranking him above one of the world No. 1’s fierce rivals and Ryder Cup teammates in two-time PGA champion Thomas. Thomas had a challenging year in 2024, struggling to find his best form.
The previous year was even tougher for the 31-year-old too, as he missed the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time in his PGA Tour career. Although there were improvements this season, with the two-time major champion qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championship, it was another campaign without victory for the Kentucky native.
Thomas, a three-time Team USA member, has since missed out on a Presidents Cup spot after failing to qualify automatically, before Jim Furyk opted not to select him asa captain’s pick. Following this, Thomas took to social media, offering a classy message to his followers.
“I’m obviously very bummed to not be joining the boys in Canada for the Presidents Cup, but completely understand,” Thomas expressed. “Jim has put together a great team. I will be the first one pulling for them and watching, while using it as motivation to not miss a team event again as they are some of my favourite weeks I’ve had.”
“It will be nice to have some time to work on things, [a] foundation event, some RandR, and even become a dad at the end of November! “While I’m excited for the off-season, I’m already looking forward to practicing and getting ready for Maui.
“Thanks to everybody for countless support and kind words as I always appreciate it. That’s enough of me getting in my feels for today.”
As Thomas mentioned, he is soon to become a father for the first time, with the Tour star and Gillian expecting their child in the next two months.
