Wilfried Mbappe, the father of renowned French footballer Kylian Mbappe, rose to prominence despite his modest background as a provincial footballer. 

Born in Douala, Cameroon, on October 11, 1970, Wilfried is of French and Cameroonian descent, with possible Nigerian ancestry.
