Stunning: Kelsey Mitchell gave Caitlin Clark a proud smile when she saw her teammate play her best despite an ankle injury! Mitchell emphasized, “This is a moment of greatness.”

Caitlin Clark quashed all concerns after her ankle injury during the Indiana Fever versus Atlanta Dream skirmish.

The rookie provided a positive injury update and her description left head coach Christie Sides and teammate Kelsey Mitchell in splits.

Despite the tweak that drew concerned faces on the floor,

Clark ended up playing 37 minutes for 19 points, seven rebounds, and as many assists in the team’s 84-79 win on Monday.

Clark rolled her ankle early on in the game but returned looking better in the second quarter. Speaking to the media in the aftermath, Clark said:

“I saw the replay, and I look really soft. It wasn’t that bad of a turn, but it hurt.”

Mitchell led the team with a game-high 29 points. The efforts from the duo were enough to defend off a late rally by Atlanta as they edged out the Fever in scoring in the third and fourth quarters.

As for Clark, the ankle may have affected her jumper and hindered her production as she shot 4-9 from beyond the arc, and 6-14 from the field. Nonetheless, the efforts translated to a win as the Fever inch closer to clinching a playoff spot in Caitlin Clark’s rookie season.

Caitlin Clark chalks up another milestone in Fever’s win over Dream

Caitlin Clark continued her impressive rookie season in the WNBA, and Monday’s matchup saw her tie Rhyne Howard’s WNBA single-season rookie 3-pointers made record. It matched the Dream star’s 85 made 3s during the 2022 season. The Indiana guard reached the landmark with her fourth made 3-pointer.

A step-back three saw Clark shatter another record this season. She leads the scoring for the Fever with 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and a WNBA-best 8.3 assists per game. The rookie has been sensational in her last four games with three 20+ point performances.

Indiana has been solid since the WNBA restart following the 2024 Paris Olympics break. They have three of their four games with the only loss coming against the Minnesota Lynx. On the playoff hopes front, the win sees the Fever improve to 14-16 and solidify their seventh-place standings.

Up next, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever host the playoff-bound Connecticut Sun on Wednesday. With the rookie ensuring there is no reason to stress about her ankle injury, it will be interesting to see how she fares as the Fever looks to build on its recent momentum.
