A photo of the Vancouver Grizzlies’ white throwback shorts was reportedly leaked on the internet as fans reacted on X, formerly Twitter.
Back in 2019, the Grizzlies unveiled a throwback uniform, paying homage to the teal uniforms worn by the Vancouver Grizzlies before the team relocated to Memphis.
In years since, the Grizzlies have adapted the teal
and red colorways into updated uniforms and appear to be going back to the layout of their throwback Vancouver uniforms, this time in a white colorway.
While fans have shown love to the retro Grizzlies threads in years prior, comments indicate some fans may be less pleased with the release of the new throwback uniforms.
“I love the old Grizzlies logo, but this ain’t it. Looks like made in China,” one fan commented.
“On the back it says made in China ðŸ˜,” another fan pointed out.”Don’t like them,” another fan bluntly stated.
While these fans weren’t so high on the reveal of the uniform combo, others showed love for the Grizzlies throwbacks in the comments.
“The fact that they’re bringing it back is a W,” one fan commented, adding a picture of the Vancouver uniforms.”JA dropping 50 in them b****es,” another fan hilariously commented.”How can you not love these,” a third fan questioned.
The Grizzlies lasted in Vancouver from 1995–96 until 2000–01, relocating to Memphis ahead of the 2001–02 NBA season. In Vancouver, the team never won more than 23 games in a season.
The Grizzlies will look to bounce back in 2024–25, returning a healthy Ja Morant and updated uniforms to get the squad feeling good entering the new season.
Grizzlies looking to bounce back after down year in 2023–24
The Grizzlies had their worst record in the Ja Morant era in 2023–24, registering a 27–55 record, their worst since 2017–18.
After back-to-back 50-win seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23, the Grizzlies will look to return to form this season with a healthy Ja Morant and the addition of Zach Edey in the draft.
With Edey’s addition, Jaren Jackson Jr. may return to his natural position as a power forward and bolster their interior defense at the same time. Moreover, Edey has the potential to be a day-one starter for Memphis and will give Ja Morant a new pick-and-roll partner.
While the Western Conference remains arguably the better of the two NBA conferences, the Grizzlies have shown the ability to finish near the top of the West when healthy.
Expect a strong bounce-back performance from Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies this season.
