Chicago Bears cornerback Douglas Coleman III was taken off the field in a stadium ambulance following a brutal collision during Wednesday night’s preseason fixture against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Coleman, who got an opportunity with the Bears in training camp this year after spending the last three years playing for the Ottowa Redblacks in the CFL, prompted some panic when he went down as the entire Bears roster took to the field while he received attention.

“Chicago Bears defensive back Douglas Coleman III was taken from the field in a stadium ambulance during Thursday night’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium,”ESPN reports.

The CB attempted a tackle on a kickoff when his head snapped back, and he fell to the ground, where he remained.

Players from both teams are said to have gotten down on their knees after realizing the gravity of the situation.

Douglas Coleman Got Another Shot In The NFL After Going Undrafted

Douglas Coleman had a very productive final season in Canada, recording 60 tackles, four sacks, and three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. 

The 26-year-old Louisiana native played his college football at Texas Tech and was a first-team All-Big 12 player in 2019. His four years with the program saw him register totals of 141 tackles, including three for loss, one sack, and 11 INTs. 

He made an impressive 63 tackles and eight picks in one year. 

Coleman signed with the Denver Broncos after going undrafted in 2020. However, he would not make it past the practice squad and eventually went to play in the CFL. He joined the Bears in January.
