Mrs. Fayza Lamari, Kylian Mbappe’s mother, threatened to not manage her son’s finances if the PSG superstar donated more than 30% of his income to charity.
“I told Mbappe that the amount of charity money is less than 30% of the company’s profits. Otherwise, I will travel to the Maldives and not work for him anymore,”
Mrs. Lamari shared with Le Parisien newspaper about her child’s charity fund.
Mbappe is famous for his generosity. He donated the entire 2018 World Cup prize money (nearly half a million USD) to his charity fund “Inspired by KM”.
This fund is helping 49 girls and 49 boys aged 9 to 16 make ends meet until they get a job.
According to Forbes, Mbappe earned $120 million in salary, bonuses and sponsorship contracts since the beginning of his career.
At least a third of this amount was donated to charity by the French striker through his company.
Mbappe’s charitable foundation was launched in 2020, helping children attend language courses, cultural trips, sports and advanced classes.
“Initially I told Mbappe the amount would be 50% of the profit. But then we settled on 30%,” Ms. Lamari added.
Mbappe’s mother manages her son’s assets and plays a decisive role in his competition and sponsorship contracts.
She has sat at the negotiating table many times in recent years with PSG and soon with Real Madrid.
The Spanish team can own Mbappe on a free transfer this summer.
Sources from Madrid show that Real has reached a personal agreement with Mbappe.
The salary has not been disclosed but may break the Bernabeu’s current salary ceiling.
According to The Athletic, Real Madrid’s success in convincing Mbappe is thanks to the personal determination of President Florentino Perez.
The construction industry tycoon has tried to contact Mbappe and his mother directly in recent times.
If he refuses to renew with PSG to move to Real this summer, Mbappe will lose $87 million in loyalty fees to the owner of Parc des Princes.
