Novak Djokovic is the defending champion in New York, conquering the US Open four times between 2011 and 2023 and losing six more finals, including his first at Majors in 2007! Carlos Alcaraz kicked off his incredible journey at Majors in New York two years ago, going all the way and becoming the first teenager with a Major glory since Rafael Nadal!

Also, the Spaniard added 2000 ATP points to his tally, becoming the youngest world no. 1 in ATP history.

After claiming three notable titles this summer, Novak and Carlos are among the favorites at the upcoming US Open.

Two great rivals battled in the Wimbledon final a month ago, and the youth overpowered the experience as Carlos defended the title following a 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 victory in two hours and 27 minutes. Alcaraz stormed over Djokovic in the opening two sets, claiming them in no time and prevailing in the third to celebrate his fourth Major title and the second in a row after Roland Garros.

Novak delivered a late break in the third set, extending the battle but finishing on the losing side without taking a set. The Serb struggled in the opening two sets, getting broken four times and standing no chance on the return.

Alcaraz delivered his fifth break in the third set and served for the title at 5-4. Djokovic made one last push and pulled the break back, prolonging his chances. Carlos stayed composed and claimed the tie break, sealing the deal and ousting a great rival for the second straight year at the All England Club.

Two rivals battled for the Paris Olympics gold a few weeks later, with both players chasing the first gold medal of their careers.

It was a massive battle, and Novak prevailed 7-6, 7-6 in two hours and 50 minutes, adding the missing title to his collection and completing the game of tennis. Djokovic left the Wimbledon final defeat behind and took down six rivals en route to Olympic glory, earning the most desired crown of his career.

The veteran kicked off his fifth Olympic Games with a rock-solid 6-0, 6-1 win over Matthew Ebden, ousting the doubles specialist in 53 minutes and arranging the clash against his old rival, Rafael Nadal. It was their 60th meeting on the Tour, and Djokovic earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory, securing a place in the last 16.

Novak left Rafa behind and raced into a 6-1, 4-0 lead, dominating on serve and return against the king of clay. Nadal showed a glimpse of his old magic on the verge of defeat, rattling off four games and breaking Djokovic two times in a row to lock the result at 4-4.

The Serb kept his composure and delivered another break in the ninth game, moving 5-4 in front and sealing the deal on his serve in the next one.

Novak faced Dominik Koepfer in the third round and struggled a bit in the opener. World no. 2 delivered a late break and performed better in the second set, moving into the quarter-final. Djokovic felt the pain in his troubled right knee in the second set, allowing Tsitsipas to forge a 4-0 and a 5-2 advantage.

The Greek squandered three set points on serve, allowing the legend to prolong the set. Novak sealed the deal in the tie break, moving over the top in straight sets and avoiding spending more time on the court. Djokovic battled against Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-final, seeking his first Olympic Games victory at this stage.

The veteran made no mistakes in a 6-4, 6-2 triumph, stealing the rival’s serve five times in a row and setting the title clash against Carlos Alcaraz.

Two tennis titans produced one of the most extended two-setters in tennis history, pushing each other to the limits while seeking the gold medal for their countries.

Novak prevailed 7-6, 7-6, outplaying the young gun in the pivotal moments and securing the missing 15th notable ATP crown. Djokovic and Alcaraz defended all 14 break points, 13 in the opening set. Novak passed all the obstacles in the first part of the duel, refusing to surrender in two challenging service games and reaching a tie break.

Djokovic fired up his forehand and claimed it after over an hour and a half, gathering a massive boost ahead of set number two. Novak served well in the second set, mounting the pressure on the other side. Carlos denied the only break point and arranged another tie break.

Djokovic outplayed him and sealed the deal with a forehand down the line winner, earning the Olympic gold medal in style at 37. Novak skipped Montreal and Cincinnati, and we will see him in action at the US Open.
