Nelly Korda, the heavy favorite to clinch gold or at least a medal in women’s golf at the 2024 Paris Olympics, fell short of expectations. 

Unable to replicate her best form on Le Golf National’s Albatross course, Korda finished a disappointing T22.

Korda started her final round in 6th place, five strokes behind the lead. Just like Scottie Scheffler in the men’s tournament, 

the 26-year-old former gold medalist was expected to accelerate in the fourth round and make a comeback.

Korda started her final round with two consecutive birdies on the second and third holes.

She was all set to be in contention for a podium finish before losing her momentum on the 5th hole. 

The American golfer carded two bogeys on the 5th and 7th holes and could never recover from the setback.

The American golfer was one under par for the day after the front nine, and she required a performance akin to Scottie Scheffler’s on the back half to clinch her second Olympic medal.

However, Korda couldn’t replicate that performance and carded -1 on the back nine with two bogeys, one double bogey, and a birdie to finish the event with a score of +3 for the day and -1 for the event.
