Last year, Jon Rahm defected to LIV Golf and made the news official by posting a picture with Greg Norman on Instagram that showed the two of them shaking hands.
Since then, Rahm has been playing in the LIV league and is the captain of his LIV team, Legion XIII.
The team’s other three members are Tyrell Hatton, Kieran Vincent, and Caleb Surratt.
Rahm used his X handle to reiterate his commitment to LIV following more than six months of involvement. Rahm changed his profile picture to the logo of his team, Legion XIII.
Talking about the inspiration behind his LIV team’s name, Rahm said that it came from his favorite Asterix & Obelix comics.
In the comic, the Legion XIII army unsuccessfully tried to invade a village several times.
The persistence of the Legion XIII army was one of the factors that influenced Rahm’s decision to come up with a name for his team.
Rahm added that he was inspired to include the lion in the team’s logo by his passion for Athletic Bilbao, a soccer team that goes by the name Lions.
Jon Rahm has participated in ten LIV events thus far, placing in the top ten in nine of them. He withdrew from LIV Golf Houston. Rahm is currently competing at the LIV Golf United Kingdom, which will announce the winner on Sunday.
