Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods maintain a frosty relationship as they continuously play dirty against each other whenever they meet at major tournaments (video)

Phil Mickelson has confessed that he wasn’t in the mood for a chinwag with Tiger Woods as they prepped side by side at The Open.

Despite their history of not always getting along, the two golfing titans have generally kept things civil on the green.

The pair have had some epic showdowns in their heyday, but these days they’re not quite the powerhouses they used to be.

Recently, their relationship has been pretty much non-existent, especially after Mickelson hopped over to LIV Golf in 2022, causing a bit of a stir.

Mickelson, who’s been a big name in recruiting for the controversial new series, stands in contrast to Woods, who’s been backing the PGA Tour against the Saudi-backed challenge.

There was a bit of a moment when the two were seen warming up together before The Open kicked off, which could’ve been a tad uncomfortable.

Mickelson later spilled the beans that they exchanged greetings but didn’t get into any deep conversation since they were both gearing up for the game.

“We said hi,” Mickelson spilled. “Yeah, we said hi, but we were both preparing. It’s not like we’re going to sit there and chat. But we said hello, yeah.”

Talk of a merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour has been buzzing around for a while, but nothing solid has come out of it yet. It’s been more than a year since the rival groups floated the idea, but so far, it’s all talk and no action.

Phil Mickelson, who just scraped through The Open’s cut with a score of five over par, remained coy about his potential collaboration with Tiger Woods to resolve ongoing disputes, stating: “I don’t know, we’ll see. We’ll see. I don’t know about that stuff, I’m not involved. I’m not sitting in those rooms. I am enjoying where I’m at and what I’m doing and playing. I’ll let other people figure that stuff out.”

Despite a disappointing 14 over par causing him to miss the cut at Royal Troon, Woods has promised a comeback at Royal Portrush next year.
