Scottie Scheffler has won six times on the PGA Tour so far this season including the Masters.
The World No.1 golfer also registered three top-three finishes, making him the most in-form golfer of 2024. Much like his fans, Tommy Fleetwood is impressed by the feet.
The Englishman has come out to state that Scheffler is “having the most incredible season.”
Dubbing his rival the “best player in the world,” Fleetwood stated that his consistency over the past two years has been ‘phenomenal.’
He stated that he and other players on the American circuit look up to the 28-year-old for motivation.
The 33-year-old put the two-time major winner’s season into perspective by reiterating that he’s still waiting for his first win on the PGA Tour.
Commenting on Scottie Scheffler’s winning run this season, Tommy Fleetwood said at his Open Championship press conference (at 3:52):
“I’d be happy with one… He’s the best player in the world and I think for us, as fellow players, I think he’s great for us in terms of somebody that we want to catch up to and watch him and be motivated by what he’s doing.
He’s having the most incredible season and I think winning six times as well as being up there in contention as many times as he has been, as consistently as he has been, over the last two years is phenomenal goal in a game that is as unpredictable as it gets in a way. I think the standard is getting higher and higher and the margins are getting smaller and smaller and smaller.”
Fleetwood also revealed his wish to play alongside Scheffler. Furthermore, the golfer stated that he would like to learn the way the World No.1 golfer “manages his golf ball and the way that he manages himself.” He claimed that the in-form golfer will be ‘doing the right things mentally’ to ensure the performance.
